This good-for-you Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip is thick, creamy, and longs to be smeared on your sandwich or dunked into with chips and veggies.

No Guilt Ranch Dip

Say buh-bye fatty ranch dressing that negates every salad it touches.

Hello to this protein-packed skinny ranch dip!

As I shared back when I posted this Roasted Red Pepper Parmesan Dip, nothing makes me more skeptical than a dip that advertises itself as “skinny.”

Most of the time, I’d rather have less of the real-deal than more of a low-fat dip that doesn’t satisfy.

Fortunately for us, a thick, dreamy base of plain Greek yogurt is the ideal stealthy healthy vehicle for the addictive garlic, onion, and dill spices that create classic ranch flavor.

Ben, who ingests vegetables with the attitude most humans apply towards cough syrup—a necessary evil—ate a good chunk of this Greek yogurt dip with carrots before I had even started the photographs!

“Delicious! Even my 12 year old daughter who doesn’t like ranch dip or even Greek yogurt, thinks it is tasty!”

How to Make Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip

All you need for this ranch-style Greek yogurt dip is a cup of your favorite non-fat plain Greek yogurt and a handful of dried herbs and spices that you likely keep stocked in your pantry.

The Ingredients

  • Greek Yogurt. Packed with protein, one of my favorite ways to use non-fat plain Greek yogurt is to turn it into a healthy Greek yogurt dip or sauce. It’s the best “skinny” swap for sour cream which is commonly used in other dip recipes.

Substitution Tip!

If you don’t have non-fat Greek yogurt on hand, readers have reported success making this recipe with traditional plain yogurt also. The consistency will be a bit thinner, but it will still taste great!

  • Garlic Powder and Onion Powder. Lends some zip and a little bite to the dip.
  • Dill and Chives. Brings color, freshness and that signature ranch flavor.
  • Worcestershire Sauce. Adds saltiness and craveable, savory umami flavor to the dip.
  • Cayenne Pepper. Just a pinch of this spice goes a long way in adding a touch of heat to this cooling dip.

Substitution Tip!

If you are really in a big hurry, you can of course always turn to a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dip mix. Mix a few teaspoons into Greek yogurt and you are good to go.

(That said, I love this healthy homemade herb and spice blend though because it cuts down the sodium substantially from what is typically found in the Hidden Valley packets.)

  1. I made this receipe in August for a.veggue tray. I had left overs about 1/3 ccip and for future reference, l frozed it. Here it is November and l took it out and thawed it by sitting the container in faucet hot water and letting it slowly thaw. It was wonderful on my chicken leg. ( l was sorry l didn’t have more)5 stars

    1. Hi Justin, I’m so confused because I see it on my end. It’s in the recipe card, right above where you commented. There is even a “jump to recipe” button at the top of the screen to help take you straight there. Could you please check again?

  2. Ranch isn’t a thing in Scotland but I love veggies and Dip or crisps and Dip, finding a healthy one that doesn’t taste weird is rare! But this Dip is incredible!

Much loved by all the family, I did add a touch more garlic granules cause garlic is life in this household 😋

Made a Cup amount last night and its already gone! Cannot wait to make more and try more of your recipes!5 stars

  3. Question, I’m going to make this today but wondering why you recommend only keeping it refrigerated for 3 days? Is it because of the chives?

    1. Hi Tracy! It’s just based on all of the other ingredients mixed into the Greek yogurt that I found 3 days to the optimal storage for it!

  4. Taste test was excellent, hopefully the crowd likes it tomorrow! I forgot dip for a veggie tray at the grocery store today, so I found your recipe for inspiration and used what I had on hand. I had about 2/3 c yogurt, so I added some cream cheese and a dollop of mayo to make up the volume and replaced the dill and salt with ~2/3 tsp celery salt. Thanks for sharing!5 stars

  5. Tastes great, but when I think of veggie dip I don’t think of spice, even if it’s just a hint. I’d use half the amount of cayenne pepper if I were to make this again, and add a bit of black pepper & fresh garlic. Other than that this is perfect. I did have to add a bit more salt, & I used fresh dill, but that’s just my taste preference. pretty good for such a healthy dip, will definitely make it again.5 stars

  6. This is great! Just made my first batch and will tell you now that it won’t be my last! I am forcing myself to enjoy yogurt and have decided that Greek yogurt is my own, personal, viable option. This fits the bill perfectly and will be a regular in my new weekly schedule.5 stars

  7. Overall the recipe was good, but I felt it was missing something. I added a half teaspoon of white vinegar and that seemed to do the trick.4 stars

    1. Hi Brian! So glad you enjoyed the recipe! Thank you for this kind review and feedback!

  8. Taste great as a dip but wondering if you have a trick to turn this into a salad dressing – a little looser.5 stars
